Stories in the stardust.
Twelve wood engraving prints on handmade Awagami paper, depicting life from the big bang through to the impossibly unlikely arrival of just one of the over 8 billion humans alive today – you! An exploration of deep time, for contextualising all the messiness going on in the world, and perhaps providing a little perspective on our heaviest feelings of grief and mortality.
The prints are complemented by suminagashi (which translates as ‘floating ink’, and is made by dropping sumi ink in water) end pages, intended to evoke tree rings and the undulations of space and time.
The wood engravings come together in the book ‘Stories in the stardust’, finished with a cover band featuring an original wood engraving and embossing.
